You've reached the wall for Isaac.

(This is my wall. There are many like it, but this one is mine...)

It's a good, sturdy wall. It's had lots of things written on it before, so don't be shy. If you'd prefer a more private communication, I am available through Facebook, Google+ / Hangouts, and Wikia email

  • Hi, FishTank!

I'm coming in peace from AHS Wikia DE and wanted to ask for your permission, if I could use these icons for a template I would put on top of the associated character pages:

    http://americanhorrorstory.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:FishTank/Murder_House_and_Asylum_Logo_Contest

So it would look similar to this:

    http://de.americanhorrorstory.wikia.com/wiki/Wahlabend

    I'd be very glad to hear from you, kind regards;

    Gagahs

  • Hello, it's been brought to my attention a misunderstanding about the main characters and the main cast of Roanoke causing a warring edit here. Is there anything we can do to clarify how to properly set those list?

Also, is there a way to improve the rendition of the list? Users changing the infobox's parameters on character pages have caused some issue like extra spacing, random brackets, and the like in the list.

Ps. Serena Belinda is still on top of the Cult's Supporting and guest characters list, despite others being more prominent than her.

  • Hi, FishTank! I was hoping you could help me with a wiki issue before asking in the forum on community central as I didn't find anything in already existing threads there.

I just noticed that on my profile page here it says I edited only for 8 days, but I contributed to that wiki every day since January 2017 and was almost reaching the 365 days. Is there any way to fix it?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

I see! Thank you for fixing it! I thought was some sort of glitch or, at least, that I was being tested to see if I fit the role or something like that (I'm not listed as an admin on the Admin page).

I'm not that Machiavellian. And feel free to edit that Admin page yourself. 😂

PS. While I am at it, better ask you who know better. On another wiki, the Special:Video become blank when I renamed files, which never happened on any other wikis. Is it normal? Because the videos are still on the wiki (ie. on the Promotional Videos category and various pages), just disappeared from the Special:Video.

Hmmm. I suspect that's a cache issue, but I can't say for sure as I don't know the particulars of how Special:Video is coded. If it is a cache issue, it should resolve in a day.

    • You may never know... Thanks, will do!

I have no idea, I hope will be resolved as you say. Knocking on the wood, it only happened there.

  • Hi! Since you're a staff on this wiki, and I really have been thinking and want to ask whether I can create a page called "List of Minor Characters", this will help cause instead of going into episode or character pages to see these characters, you can go to a specific page which will be sorted from different seasons.
Before I actually did it, I thought I'd ask whether I could. Thanks!

  • Hi there! I wanted to reach out and see if you'd be interested in a wiki update? For instance, would you be against adding the discussions widget to the main page? Also, could I update the "next episode" section and maybe add a slider? If not, totally understandable. Just wanted to offer my help.

  • On the page The Cult,  there is a spoiler warning for who is involved with the Cult. This spoiler warning is not on other pages with hidden identities such as the TCK and Bloody Face. I'm just saying that the spoiler warning is unnecessary and should be deleted. The formatting on the page is also unclear. What is your opinion on this page?

      Loading editor
    • I put the spoiler warning there intentionally. Rubber Man, TCK, and Bloody Face had similar spoiler warnings in their respective days. They don't now, as the spoiler period has passed. The spoiler warnings should stay in place until the release of the next story, as getting spoiled prematurely would be directly detrimental to enjoyment of this story. A significant portion of the viewing audience will only watch "Cult" in a binge format on streaming services for the next year, and those are the ones for which we're creating a minor convenience.

    • I understand. I came in during the Roanoke era and there wasn't much of a mystery during the season so I was a little confused on how things run around here during the off-season with a mystery. Thanks for helping me understand.

  • The gifs I uploaded recently has an extra part of the image I want removed.  It's taking up too much space, so when you get the chance could you see about removing the left half but keeping the gif/right side?

      Loading editor
    • That's not really possible without editing the GIF. Also, as we move into the video era, I'd like to move away from using GIFs altogether and want to start the replacement of animations with video alternatives instead.

  • Hi! Are you okay if I merge the three pages about Roanoke into one? Currently, there are Season 6, Roanoke (story) and Category:Roanoke (story) that pretty much deal with the same content. Are there any specific steps to pay attention when dealing with Redirects from shortcuts pages?

      Loading editor
    • For us, and those particular pages, yes. Season 6 can go without question. You should find that Roanoke (story) isn't exactly a duplicate, but transcludes (pulls the content from) the Category page of the same name. That's because there's not an easy way to read the actual content but some methods (like the Community App) in that namespace. So, it needs to stay as-is for the time being.

The long term solution to that is... not yet available. 😀

Sorry that I haven't had much time for editing in the last couple weeks. You wouldn't believe how much planning a Town Hall takes.

    • I'll go ahead with deleting that duplicated only then! As I thought. Having seen that category, I immediately thought there was some wiki code involved. Speaking of codes, I think there's some glitch on Category:Cult (story). The episode subpage should list only the episodes, but instead, the template incorporates character lists as well. I tried to find the source of that but without luck. Surely you will know how to handle it better.

Don't worry about that! I try to check at least a couple of times a day that everything is fine, and I still have a couple of pages to update. Also, there are a couple of users keeping pages updated with recent episodes, so there is not much backlog work.

ps. What about List of Death?

  • Hello! I realized that there is still no location for Cult. Should we add something? Michigan? The Butchery On Main? Both? None of the above?

    • Yep, let's see how that works.

    • Hi, I just wanted to inform you that I created the pages for The Butchery On Main and Brookfield Heights, Michigan. Let me know what you think about them! I used pre-existing similar pages as inspiration.

  • Hi! If you had not already noticed them - I suppose you're pretty busy these days having skipped the latest episode plot you currently update - I want to bring to your attention some new pages and categories that, in my opinion, should be revised for better consistency with AHS Wiki policy and guidelines.

While "Mass Murderer" and "Serial Killer" seem to be fine, others are quite misleading, ie. "Real Characters" making it seems other characters aren't real, or something like that. In other wikis I'm part of, we have "Historical Figures," for example. Another recently added category is "Freak." Since all the above categories are being added by the same user in a short period of time, I can't help thinking about a bit of Badge Boosting in addition to the desire to improve/expand the wiki.

Then there are pages like List of Death of which I do not understand the reason to be here, honestly; especially in the current draft conditions. Speaking of, I thought FlufferBot had removed the category "Deceased" but some users continue to add it to character pages, along with "Antagonist."

What are your opinions about it?
