Chad Warwick is a former owner of the Murder House along with his boyfriend, Patrick. He is a character in the first season (dubbed by fans "Murder House") portrayed by Zachary Quinto.

Background[]

Chad and his boyfriend, Patrick, were first mentioned by Marcy. They were the last owners of the house before the Harmon family.[1] They greatly restored the House with the intention of selling it at a profit, only to see the plan collapse when the economy and housing industry faltered. Unable to move out of the House, Chad and Patrick began having issues over Chad's belief that Patrick was being unfaithful. He bought the BDSM rubber suit, believing it would get him more interest from Patrick.[2]

Chad eventually discovers that Patrick was cheating on him with a trainer at the gym. When he confronted him on Halloween, Patrick tells Chad that he was cheating because there was "nothing special" in their relationship anymore before he leaves in a huff. Rubber Man appears shortly after, though Chad believed that it was Patrick in the suit. The Rubber Man then proceeds to force Chad's head into the apple bobbing tub before snapping his neck. Patrick walks in moments later and fights with Rubber Man upon seeing Chad presumed dead on the floor. He is then savagely beaten to death himself. Rubber Man then drags their bodies into the basement, where Chad wakes up. Tate then shoots Patrick and then Chad, placing the gun in Chad's hand so that it was ruled a Murder-Suicide by police.[3]

Personality and Appearance[]

On the surface, Chad seems to be a friendly and flamboyant young man who is deeply frustrated with his boyfriend's infidelity. Underneath this surface, however, Chad seems to have severe psychological problems. He has a meltdown on the front of the Harmons' property as well, smashing all their decorations and threatening Vivien while screaming at her about Patrick's infidelity.

Chad's age is never revealed, although it is believed he is in his late twenties or early thirties. He has brown eyes, dark brown hair, a bit of scruffy facial hair, and is fit. He dresses very tastefully.

It is also theorized that Chad did not age in appearance as a ghost after his physical death (unlike Moira, while the Infantata is still alive) because his physical body was found and laid to rest off of the property.

Story[]

After Marcy hires fluffers to fix up the house for the Harmons, Ben and Vivien encounter Chad and Patrick on the front lawn. Believing the two are the fluffers, they invite them inside, where Chad sets about decorating the house in a similar fashion as to how he was decorating at the time of his death. He and Patrick still have tension between them. Sensing the marital problems between Vivien and Ben, Chad advises Vivien to check Ben's cell phone records (leading her to discover that he has been in contact with his ex-lover, Hayden).

Later, Chad begins having a meltdown over Ben and Vivien's sub-par costumes and the fact that they didn't purchase the right apples for the bobbing station. Reaching his boiling point, he demands that the two leave the house. When they refuse, pointing out that it's their house, Chad ominously responds, "It's not your house. We know it, you know it... And the house knows it." Vivien then starts screaming for Chad and Patrick to leave. They likewise refuse, but Patrick begins to lead Chad away when they notice the Rubber Man stalking outside the nearby windows.

Later that night, as the chaos surrounding Hayden's break-in was unfolding, Vivien sees Chad smashing the decorations on the front lawn. She confronts him, where he blames her for ruining his Halloween and says Patrick left to go to a bar, which upsets him more as he claims that all he wanted was to spend Halloween with his Patrick. Vivien threatens to call her security company, which causes Chad to chase her inside and scream for her to get out of his house again. Later, in the dining room, he confronts Larry, who is dousing parts of the house in gasoline. At dawn of the following day the Halloween night, Chad re-entered the house with several other ghosts, refusing to talk to Patrick.[4]

Chad and Patrick later plot to smother both of Vivien's twins when they turn one year old, so "they will stay cute forever" and then claim them as their own. Violet and Constance conspire to rid their spirits from the house for good using a pagan ritual which proves unsuccessful, however, Chad later admits he no longer wants the twins after learning Patrick doesn't love him anymore.[5]
