Season four theme thoughts !
Isn't the 1/15 or the 1/22 episode the "clue drop" episode??? Think the 1/8 one was too soon.
I've read online that Lange has always wanted to play a certain role and in this season, Ryan confirmed, she will be playing that roll -- or a spin-off of that person. The person was an actress/stage performer. Recent rumors have said that the next season could be a circus or carnival theme -- which I would love, the "freak show" them would be wicked -- but also a brothel and lastly, a stage-driven arena to where Lange can portray the roll in.
But, yes, starting with the episode that will be airing on January 15, the writers will begin to "drop hints" as to what season four will be. I'm dying to find out.

Using the Lange "dream role" theory, a circus theme or western theme would be satisfactory to that.
Circus: Plenty of acts under the AHS big top of terror for Jessica to fill.
Western: Jessica as a seductive saloon songbird in a dusty ghost town of the wild west.
in defense of American Horror Story:Dust
On the weather channel: "When Weather Changed History-Dust Bowl" on now.
Truly terrifying accounts...people thought it was the "face of the devil" and "hell approaching"...
The Dust Bowl was pyschologically breaking.
The American heartland was a wasteland, skies were dark over multiple states...
The Dust Bowl was truly apocalyptic, annihilating cities...
diseases ran rampant, a medical crisis was issued...not just for humans...everyone wore gas masks and goggles...
Death was everywhere...and it was a slow death, slaughter of thousands of animals happened...clubbing of jack rabbits and other creatures happened, other critters ran amok in plague-like amounts.
Thousands of dead bodies, human and animal, permeated the land. Everywhere you looked was death.
Corruption was very much alive though.
Pictures from the Dust Bowl era are amongst the most disturbing in American history.
The devastation is still felt today in some areas.
There is so much Murphy can do with a Dust Bowl season, with a little imagination.
There is no greater horror than the horror that you cannot control...
Also, when I googled Mumbles a common image was a picture of a clown laying down in a bathtub, the same way Nan died. Surely there is some significance here. This might sound crazy but what if Madison knew what Nan's fate would be? She is gaining a lot of powers... not sure if seeing the future is even part of the bargain though.
This would be awesome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGOdKxnENVs
I really like the idea of a WWII/Holocaust themed season. It would be a chance to increase awareness of that point in history AND make it a really spectacular season if conducted in the right way; a lot of people find that time period interesting. I think an aquatic theme would be cool as well; something filmed on a ship or out at sea. I was really put off by the alien element in season 2; didn't like that, thought it was tacky - I was especially disappointed when it wasn't explained or delved into as much as the issues in season one were. It left me with the impression that the creators weren't really sure how to wrap it up. I liked the Dust Bowl idea, and i also like the idea of setting the show in Alaska. Either of those ideas would be fantastic. If the circus/carnival rumors are true, I would not be disappointed; a season like that could be fun in a lot of ways. One of the things I did like about season two was the psychotic/mental element going on, I thought it was really interesting and gave the show a haunting twist. I hope season four has as many shockers and plot twists as season one did, and I hope it's just as well thought-out, complex, and organized. I've sadly noticed that the last two seasons haven't been as such, and while they have been very good all the same, season one will always be my favorite and, in my opinion, the most well done.

I think it would be difficult to do a WWII/Holocaust theme in America, and I think that American Horror Story should take place in America hence the name American Horror Story. Same with the out to sea idea, I really dislike the Dust Bowl idea, maybe it's just because there are one or two people on here that are over pushing that idea but I think it's just not a good idea. Carnival/Circus I think is awesome, clowns, acrobats, freaks of nature, bearded ladies, magicians, there is a wealth of ideas to draw from with that theme. Whatever it is I'm sure Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk will make sure it's good.
During the face off with the corporation, Harrison mentioned communist! Perhaps that was a hint to season 4. A group of communist or something. Ya know McCarthyism & Joe McCarthy.
